What I'm Reading...

My morning train. If it's quiet enough you can get a seat with a table. I'm currently reading 'Weekend in Paris' by Robyn Sisman. Romantic yet funny, predictable yet surprising. A fast-paced read which brought plenty of my own memories to the surface. Made me want to write a book about my holiday to Barbados in 1998 and my Summer in Virginia in 2000. Maybe I will.....

Sun Shining on My Work

The Lunar Eclipse

The first total lunar eclipse in more than three years began at 2018 GMT, with the Moon totally immersed in the shadow of the Earth between 2244 and 2358 GMT. During "totality" the Moon took on a reddish hue; the only light reaching its surface by this stage had been filtered through Earth's atmosphere.

Now for the geeky bit:
Lunar eclipses occur when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in a near-perfect line in space. The Moon travels through the long cone-shaped shadow that the Earth casts in space. At totality, the only light reaching the Moon's surface has been refracted through the Earth's atmosphere. The appearance of the lunar surface varies according to how much dust is in the Earth's upper atmosphere. For example, following major volcanic eruptions, the Moon appears to be a deep red and almost invisible.

Walking @ Lunch

Today I went out at lunch 'cos I had to get out the office for a bit. As I was walking back, I noticed this massive glass building sticking out of the pretty Glasgow architecture. A modern, contemporary build, or an eye-sore? You decide!

Also, see the restaurant, Bella Italia? That's where Derek and I went out to lunch last week. :o)

My Angel Lost Her Wings :'o(

It was a sad, sad day in the Reid household today... :'o( I leaned over and knocked my little glass angel by the side of my bed over... and her halo and wings fell off. :'o( She's too delicate to glue back together so now I really want to find a new one! She's holding an emerald stone (by birth stone) and has been happy beside my Lucky Duck for years!

I got new glasses today, and aren't they fab?!?! Thanks to the designers at Monsoon!! I also got FCUK ones which I'll post a pic of tomorrow. :D

Our Cupboard

A glimpse inside one of our kitchen cupboards... pasta, jelly (which for you non-UK people is the wobbly stuff you have with ice cream not what you put on bread lol.) Also have some maple syrup, Indian and Chinese sauces, baked beans, soup etc.

As you enter our hallway you see these bits 'n' pieces. A Fantasia Mickey Mouse bank from our Honeymoon, a heart-shaped box decorated with shells from Barbados (thanks Charms!!) and three wee ornaments from our holiday in Rome.

My two boys at the vet. We've had Jazz 1 year now so he was at the vet for his yearly check-up. If you look super close, you can see his wee white bits through the bars of the box!

For the past 2 weeks we've been having the WORST drain problems ever!!! You empty the bath ~ it floods the kitchen... you wash the dishes ~ the sink drains into the washing machine... you put the washing machine on ~ it totally fills the kitchen sink lol.
So we called for help and it was Mr Drain Klear to the rescue! :oD

The spare room at Mum and Dad's is freezing and when Mittens isn't there to sleep on your feet and keep you cozy, you gotta rely on Hot Bunny lol. 2 minutes in the microwave and he keeps you warm for hours!
